YouTube Will Be My Demise

I've never been much of a TV or movie watcher. Growing up in a seven to eight hundred square foot home, with one big, old television set (CRT) in the living room meant it was usually in use by someone older than me.

It was usually on novelas or news with no hope of changing the channel from Univision or Telemundo (believe me, I asked...a lot!). Of course that meant either watch what was on or having to find something else to occupy my time. Like chores! This is why my aunt (two years my senior) and I usually made ourselves scarce, if possible. Until she started school, that meant a lot of pretend time outside because that was SO much better than chores.

Being born in the early eighties and growing up poor to very proud immigrants, we had a very simple, no internet life. Which might explain why I'm so darn easy to impress. But smart phones, I can't be the only one amazed but afraid of them, right?

Regardless, YouTube on my phone has become one of my favorite pastimes. I'm not proud of it. But it is what it is, I suppose. It could always be worse. That's how I justify it! But I've fallen victim to a predictable schedule of enjoying watching first amendment audits, cosmetic swatches, body cam footage, crime stories and product reviews.

I fear I am hopelessly addicted. The only things keeping me from spending more time on YouTube are real life responsibilities, lack of funds (I'm poor) and ads! Here's another old lady rant I didn't see coming or plan! So I'll make it quick. If I pay for YouTube TV, then that should automatically remove ads from YouTube. Just saying!
